| Air Purifier Brands To Avoid |
 |
|
 |
We have carefully selected the brands that we carry at Purifier Nation for good reason.
Many of the best-selling air purifiers in the U.S. are virtually useless, and end up being put in
the closet or in the corner of the garage.
Three brands that should be avoided the most are:
- Sharper Image
- Oreck
- Honeywell
Sharper Image uses an ionic filtration system in its units which has been repeatedly shown to be virtually useless
at everything but light dust collection. They have spent millions upon millions of dollars on advertising, only to be
given awful reviews by independent organizations like Consumer Reports.
Oreck also has been given the poorest rating by Consumer Reports, as their most popular unit actually generates ozone as
a by-product. Ozone is used in commercial settings for odor removal, but it is a known carcinogen and is absolutely
dangerous for home use. Again Oreck spends tens of millions of dollars on advertising even though its products should be
avoided.
Entry level air purifiers like those sold by Honeywell at big box stores are not as bad those sold online by Sharper Image
and Oreck, but they are equally useless in the sense that they simply do not work. We have tested many of these units in our
own homes and have yet to find one that makes even a noticeable difference in room air quality.
Given that air quality is of such importance to your family, we strongly believe that it is worth looking at spending a little
for a high-quality air purifier that will benefit everyone in your household for years to come.
